the manuscript of tim williamson’s new book on the philosophy of philosophy is up. rather than being a new book, it seems more like a compilation and reorganization of the articles he has written the past few years (minus the semantics stuff). from a quick scan, parts of it were directly taken from “must do better”, “armchair philosophy”, and “philosophical knowledge”. nevertheless, if you haven’t read those things, then the book is a good read. though i think there are some problems with williamson’s account of modal knowledge. i will read the manuscript when i get a chance, which probably means never.

UPDATE 10/01/08: For people who found this post while searching for the book, it is now published by Blackwell. I’ve loaned a copy and read a few chapters. Still really interesting stuff, and surely salient to the discourse for years to come.
